I have been a photographer since I was gifted a Kodak Instamatic X15 at nine. I distinctly remember the little red badge in the front. I became addicted to the click of the shutter. So much so that when I discovered flash photography at an aquarium, I was snapping away, only to find that all my photos were blown out by the glass. My mom knew, but didn’t say anything. “You were having too much fun.”
I have been a professional VFX Supervisor based out of Los Angeles for over 20 years, and I have taken photos and footage that you have most certainly seen if you’ve watched any television in that time. You just didn’t know it.
I consider myself to be a professional amateur. One should always be learning and exploring; discovering new things. And no matter how professional I become, photography to me, will always be fun.
